Closing Time

I thought this would be a nice bit of information to share to feed the political junkie in all of us. I came upon this bit of info lurking on Nate Silver's fivethirtyeight.com site. But, ultimate credit belongs to Swing State Project's DavidNYC.

This is how much time is left when the first polls close in Indiana and Eastern Kentucky--the beginning for an upset for McCain or a landslide for Obama? Stay tuned, it's gonna be a fun ride.

I've heard the two biggest nailbiters for this election cycle would be whether Democrats get their 60 fillibuster-proof senators or not--and California's referendum on Proposition 8. The latest Field Poll has it 49% vs 44% against Prop 8!

thank you for this (0.00 / 0)
I had mentioned in a previous post that Indiana and Kentucky are normally the first two states called for a candidate. Most major Kentucky towns are included in the red with Louisville, Lexington, Richmond, Frankfort. Indiana has Indianapolis in the red. What's interesting about Indiana is that the two orange areas tend to be the most liberal and blue. The top is Gary, Indiana next to the Chicago area. And I believe that Bloomington is in the bottom area, home of Indiana University. If McConnel in Kentucky is in trouble and Indiana is going blue presidentially then it is going to be a great night. And for the record Kentucky went with the last three Democratic presidents - Johnson, Carter and Clinton.

You're welcome. n/t (0.00 / 0)

I liked it so much I linked it on my blog's sidebar. It's a great resource for election night results watching.

I intend to use the nice colorful map as the general playbill for election night.

Remember... (0.00 / 0)
...that if voters are in line at closing time, they get to vote; if the lines are as long as predicted, the effective closing time (i.e., the time at which the last voter finishes) could be notably later than the official closing time.
