Lee's Greatest Hits

by: Scarce

Wed Jul 30, 2008 at 23:40:55 PM EDT

From the recent News 12 debate held in Norwalk between Jim Himes and the always provocative Lee Whitnum. Mort Sahl's famous quip "Is there anyone here I haven't offended yet?" comes to mind.

"Give The Taliban Back Their Country" / "We Know The Reason Why We Had 9/11"

Headless (0.00 / 0)
Wellmade video by Raving Republican Headless Hoseman is also available on youtube. Of course, he insists on stressing Whitnum as a Democrat rather than as a raving lunatic (although the tinfoil mask is a great addition!).

His intent is to bring shame on the Dems, and in this case he is correct. Note that she does not have the endorsement of the Democratic Party.

It is shameful that she can tag herself a Democrat.  But, I guess we have been through this before. I wish I were a Republican so I wouldn't have to be so Liberal.

Can anyone locate a fact? (0.00 / 0)
Connecticut Political Report "Just the Facts"

http://ctpoliticalreport.wordp...

First the tone of the blogs particularly that of saramerica written by the fired reporter Sarah Littman is at best hateful and at worse defamatory.

The 'author' goes on to say:

If your not a member of the far left wing of the Democratic Party, rich, white and from Greenwich you cannot run for anything. This tiny fraction of bloggers who have no political ideas, no specifics nothing but hate for any one who opposes their anointed candidates is now starting to feel the heat.

Looks like opinion to me.

Who writes CT Political Report? (0.00 / 0)
They're pretty ill-informed.
Not to mention that their writing skills are atrocious.

My reply to them (0.00 / 0)
"Jesus. First you say that we're too hard on Ms. Whitnum, and then the very next article about her, you refer to her views as "repugnant" and "ridiculous".

From the tone of your writing, you obviously don't like bloggers and the fact that we may express opinions in occasionally strong language. I'm sorry we offend your delicate sensibilities. The idea that Sarah Littman was fired because of journalistic conflict is ridiculous when she is paid to write OPINION. She's NOT a reporter. Opinion writers are ENCOURAGED to write from a favored perspective (unless it conflicts with the owner's deliberate agenda).

However, not a word is written about Neil Vigdor's obvious soft reporting on Ms. Whitnum. I've met Neil and he seems like a nice enough guy. But the fact that the Greenwich Time has an agenda is crystal clear to all but those who purposefully ignore it. And the same corporation that owns the Time also owns the Stamford Advocate, the Danbury News-Times, the Connecticut Post, and several other high-circulation papers in Fairfield County.

The REAL story is why does a powerful corporation have such a pro-Shays agenda. How about discussing THAT instead of worrying about who might get sued for calling someone a nutjob?

And for the record, I never referred to her as anything but "Ms. Whitnum", "Lee", or "the candidate". Her words and views are sufficient to bring the proper label to the reader's mind."

IGNORE (4.00 / 1)
trust me, ignore that blog...

Off the Whitnum bashing ... (3.67 / 3)
I can't do it in good conscience as I truly believe that she suffers from some mental illness. I am not trying to be snarky here, but I have suspected it for a while and have held back accordingly in bashing her on the blogs and in conversations. After seeing this, I am convinced that she suffers from some sort of paranoia, delusion, etc.

I will not ask others to stop doing what they are, but this kinda feels like the Howard Stern show where they are pretending to have a legit conversation with a person who is mentally challenged and the only person not in on the joke is the person with the mental handicap.

Jim Himes is clearly the better candidate and can win easily on just his positive attributes. He and we have humored her enough - if we stop talking to and about Whitnum, she still has plenty of voices in her head with which to debate.

Agreed to some extent... (0.00 / 0)
I'm most interested in just getting the facts out to the voters prior to the primary, something that the print media could be doing a better job of.

But many of the papers have been granting Ms. Whitnum a legitimacy that she doesn't deserve. Her campaign is basically a web-site, this media appearance, and $6000 worth of paid signature collecting. (and stalking Himes through the first half of his district tour.)

The print media also hasn't examined her resume, which, if looked at closely, shows she is basically unemployed having earned just $4200 last year via part-time jobs.

so one has to ask (0.00 / 0)
if she made $4200
and assuming she was living on less than $100/week
Just where did the $6K come from?

Last time I checked it wasn't reported in any of her FEC filings.

Now, if I was a reporter, that would seem like an obvious question to ask the candidate.

Too bad the reporters at the Times and Advocate haven't been trained to ask the obvious.

The question is not what you are, we already determined that, we are now negotiating price.

Follow the money (0.00 / 0)
Sugar daddy? She had one in 2002.
Check to see if she's collected unemployment.

$$ in the bank (0.00 / 0)
She has at least one bank account with a sizeable balance, so she may be funding her run from that.

Which then leads to the question of how she got money in the bank if the immigrants have kept her from holding a job for 8 years.

OT but please be sure and participate (0.00 / 0)

Hold on. (0.00 / 0)
I'm new to this Whitnum woman, but what she's saying about Israeli settlements is absolutely true, and Jim Himes pedantic retort is horrible - saying that it's 'abominable' to link Israel to 9/11.  GIVE ME A BREAK! If we don't start looking at the real roots of terrorism, guess what people - IT'S NEVER GOING TO GO AWAY.

Iraq War: BIG mistake.
