Jim Himes' Bridgeport press conference

by: Sue

Tue Jul 29, 2008 at 17:41:14 PM EDT

Jim Himes held a press conference today at McLevy Green in Bridgeport.

(See also Susan Silver's article in the Connecticut Post).

Check it out. Here we have Mr. Tessa (Mike), Tessa, Jon, and his son Rick "Ralph" Kantrowitz. Doesn't anybody work around here?

A member of the press, ready to interview himself (OK, sorry Erik, my bad) sitting next to Jenetha.

State Representative Andres Ayala:

Other members of the Himes' team; Laura, Rasmus (hiding), Jenetha, Rick and Emmanuel.

The first to speak was Richard Blumenthal, who spoke of Himes' quality, dedication and irreplaceable experience - all of which will enrich Congress and make Himes a winner on his first day there.

The back of State Comptroller Nancy Wyman, (wearing red), who mentioned the huge deficit being left by the current administration - and her belief that Himes' experience far exceeds Shays when it comes to the money issues. She fully supports Himes' views on NCLB, affordable housing, and health care, and is confident that Himes will focus on  making that American dream more viable.

Jim Himes, thanking all the people behind him (who include Susan Byseiwicz, Mayor Finch, Marilyn Moore, Nancy Wyman, Don Clemons, Richard Blumenthal, Anthony Musto, Ed Gomes and Daniel Martinez).

Jim's platform? Something that I, and my family really need to hear. He spoke of how he would work to restore the promise of the American dream. We are a nation of laws, and we need to again realize that if you work hard and play by the rules you should be able to do better than your parents. We need, once again, to embrace the hope of prosperity, and opportunity, with accountability for those laws, which is really what America is all about.

I'm sure that I've over simplified it, but having 4 twenty year olds who believe that future is before them, it's something worth working and voting for to ensure that they can count on it. We need change.
